Trekking the Great Wall for a great cause!
Story
In June 2014, I will be participating in Turia Pitt's Great Wall Challenge. The purpose of this challenge is to raise funds and awareness about an amazing charity called Interplast Australia and New Zealand but to also go on incredible journey with my best mates!
I first heard about Interplast through my good friend Turia Pitt.
In September 2011, Turia, was caught by a fire when running an ultra marathon in the remote Kimberley region of Western Australia. She suffered horrific burns to 65% of her body and spent five months in Concord hospital enduring endless operations and daily therapy.
I feel extremely blessed that Turia is still here, because if it wasn’t for the excellent standards of medical care we have in Australia she wouldn't be, and that's why I am passionate about helping support the integral work of Interplast.
Interplast sends fully qualified Australian and New Zealand volunteer plastic and reconstructive surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses and allied health professionals to the Asia Pacific region to provide free surgical treatment for patients living with a treatable disability.
Collectively as a team, we aim to raise $100,000! I have pledged to raise a minimum of $5000 through online donations, we are also planning some exciting fundraising events between now and June, so keep an eye on this space and support a great cause.

Since 1983, we have delivered more than 880 programs across 25 countries, resulting in more than 750 surgical and allied health medical program activities that make a huge difference in the lives of some of the world’s poorest people.
With the support of people just like you, we have:
- Performed more than 23,000 life-changing operations
- Supported more than 70 surgeons and nurses from developing countries to complete part of their training in Australia and New Zealand, including the sole current plastic surgeons in both Fiji and PNG.
- Sent 800 medical volunteers, including doctors, nurses, anaesthetists and allied health professionals, on more than 880 medical programs
- Provided more than 42,000 consultations
