In June I will be taking part in Turia’s Great Wall Challenge to raise money for Interplast – a charity that helps rebuild bodies and lives in the Asia Pacific region.

Interplast helps improve the quality of life, of those who have a disability or are disabled as a result of congenital or acquired medical conditions such as cleft lip and palate or burn scar contractures. 

By sending fully qualified Australian and New Zealand volunteer plastic and reconstructive surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses and allied health professionals to the Asia Pacific region, they are able to provide free surgical treatment for patients who would otherwise not be able to afford access to such services.

Not only will I be raising money for a great cause, I will also be walking alongside one of the most inspirational people I have ever heard about.

Two years ago, Turia Pitt was partaking in a 100km ultra marathon in WA, when she got caught in a grass fire and received burns to 65% of her body.  Cut to 2013, and she is now preparing to partake in the adventure of a life time, for a cause that is very close to her heart.  She is a true testament to the power of the human spirit, and I can’t wait to embark on this journey with her.
