Elizabeth takes on Turia's Great Wall Challenge
Story
Attention all dear friends, family members, colleagues and citizens of the world,
If you are reading this, you are already half way to proving to the universe how big your heart is!
You have arrived at my own fundraising page for Turia's Great Wall Challenge 2014.
In case you are wanting to know 'what's it all about, Liz?'
Here is my story so far:
- At the beginning of 2014, guest speaker Turia Pitt came to my workplace, to share with us her amazing story.
A few words simply can't do justice to the strength and generosity Turia has showed the world, and showed me that day.

Here is my story so far:
- At the beginning of 2014, guest speaker Turia Pitt came to my workplace, to share with us her amazing story.
A few words simply can't do justice to the strength and generosity Turia has showed the world, and showed me that day.
She spoke of her burns, her spirit, her road to recovery, and how this long road she is walking has reinforced faith in herself and humanity.
Ever hungry to test herself further, Turia also mentioned that us one of her biggest challenges of 2014 was to be part of 'Turia's Great Wall Challenge', to raise funds for Interplast.
Through her work with Interplast and other meaningful causes, Turia is using her new found celebrity voice to speak louder than ever before – for other women and people that don’t have that voice
- Following her talk, our People and Culture Leader released an email, letting all know, who would dare apply, that they would provide the opportunity for one person to take part in Turia's Great Wall Challenge on behalf of their company.
On Friday, March 7th, I received the call to be told that I was successful in my application! I would be joining Turia in China!
-The successful applicant would also have the chance to fundraise for Interplast. 'Who is Interplast, and what do they do?' I hear you say. Let me tell you....
Interplast sends fully qualified Australian and New Zealand volunteer plastic and reconstructive surgeons, anesthetists, nurses and allied health professionals to the Asia Pacific region to provide free surgical treatment for patients living with a treatable disability. They treat patients who would otherwise not be able to afford access to such services. They also train local medical staff to perform these surgeries independently.
-So now, in June 2014, I will be trekking the Great Wall of China, raising funds for Interplast.
We will be in a team of 20 or so beautiful like-minded women, headed by the amazing Turia Pitt. This experience will enrich us, will challenge us, will change us.
My request of you now is to help me raise as much money as I can, so that I am truly worthy of the opportunity that has been given to me.
100% of the donations will be handed to Interplast, and I would be so touched if we could reach my target of $4,000.00

Since 1983, we have delivered more than 880 programs across 25 countries, resulting in more than 750 surgical and allied health medical program activities that make a huge difference in the lives of some of the world’s poorest people.

- Performed more than 23,000 life-changing operations
- Supported more than 70 surgeons and nurses from developing countries to complete part of their training in Australia and New Zealand, including the sole current plastic surgeons in both Fiji and PNG.
